Lemongrass, the tall grass at the edge of every kitchen garden on Java
Serai
Serai is lemongrass: the tall, sharp-edged grass that grows at the edge of every kitchen garden on Java, bruised and knotted into soup and tea. Its cousin, serai wangi, has been grown on Java for its oil since before 1900.
This candle is for its first hour: lime and lemongrass, sharp and clean, with verbena and a little ginger under them. White cedar holds the room after it is blown out.
